Frequently Asked Questions

What is an "E-Marker" chip and why do I need one?

An E-Marker (Electronic Marker) chip is a safety feature required for all USB-C cables that handle over 60W of power. This chip communicates with your charger and your device to identify the cable's capabilities (like 100W) and ensure a safe, stable power delivery. Cables without an E-Marker are unsafe for high-wattage charging and can damage your laptop or charger.

Can I use this cable to charge my iPhone?

Yes, if you have an iPhone 15 or newer, which uses a USB-C port. For an iPhone 14 or older, you cannot use this cable. You must use a USB-C to Lightning cable (which we sell in our MFi Certified collection).

Will this cable support video output to my monitor?

Yes, our 10Gbps (USB 3.1 Gen 2) cables support video output. You can use them to connect a USB-C-enabled laptop (like a MacBook) directly to a USB-C monitor for 4K video display. Please note that standard 480Mbps USB 2.0 cables do not support video.

Are all USB-C to USB-C cables the same?

No, they vary greatly. Many cheap cables are "charge-only" or are limited to slow USB 2.0 data speeds (480Mbps). Our cables are built for high performance, supporting both 100W PD charging and 10Gbps data transfer, making them true "all-in-one" solutions for all your devices.

What is 100W Power Delivery (PD) and do I need it?

Power Delivery (PD) is a fast-charging technology. While your phone may only need 20W-30W, a laptop (like a MacBook Pro) requires 65W, 87W, or even 100W to charge at full speed. A 100W PD cable is the universal standard that ensures you can charge all your devices, from your phone to your high-power laptop, with a single cable.

What is the difference between USB-C and Thunderbolt 3?

They use the exact same physical connector, but Thunderbolt 3 is a more powerful technology that supports much faster data speeds (up to 40Gbps). Our 10Gbps USB-C cables are fully compatible with Thunderbolt 3 ports, but they will operate at the 10Gbps USB speed.
